We are excited to see this announcement by some of our Student Curatorial Team alumni about a project happening next week:
We hope you can join us for May Meet In Mutual, which opens next week.
Morgan Cahn, Sarah Johnston, Rebecca Jones, Holly Keasey, Hannah Moitt, Emma Reid, Katie Reid, Beth Savage and Holly Knox Yeoman present site responsive works for this exhibition in the glass walled Park Ranger Centre set within the Baxter Park, Dundee.
Presenting new works from a range of practices that May Meet In Mutual, this exhibition takes its title from an excerpt of the speech Sir David Baxter gave at the opening of the park in 1863. With money made through their successful linen manufacturing firm, Mary Ann, Eleanor and Sir David donated the park in the hopes that it would provide for the people of Dundee,
"a common ground where all may meet in mutual acknowledgement of their dependence the one upon the other."
You are welcome to join us during our Open Install, Thursday August 16th (all day), while the artists arrange and continue to make works in the Park Ranger Centre.
May Meet In Mutual is open on Friday August 17th and Saturday August 18th from 11am-4pm, with an Open Evening on Friday August 17th from 4pm-7pm.
For the duration of the exhibition Morgan Cahn will Me(a)nder: in recognition of the site she will be mending your worn out textiles - so bring those holey socks!
Throughout the exhibition join Holly Keasey for ‘Sew ‘n’ Grow’ an on-going discussion about recreation in the park.
On Saturday August 18th 10.30am - 12.30pm ‘Get Down and Dirty’, do some weeding with the Friends of Baxter Park (meet at the Park Centre). Afterwards Holly Keasey will host ‘Tending Recreation’, in the Park Centre with tea and cakes: a conversation on recreation, our regional climate and a celebration of rain! (from 12.45pm).
May Meet In Mutual is supported by the Maryfield Regeneration Team
